Whether you need boobs for a costume or want to add more cleavage to your natural bust, there are many easy ways to make fake breasts at home. Using socks, water balloons, toilet paper and even silicone enhancement pads can all create the illusion of a fuller bust.
Start by deciding where you want your breasts to be placed. Then lightly mark those spots with an eye pencil.
Socks
One of the most popular methods for making boobs is by stuffing bras with socks. This method is inexpensive, easy to do, and provides a good amount of lift. This is a good choice for women who aren’t confident enough to sew.
Start with a pair of socks that are the same color. Cut off the heel area of the sock. Stuff the toe portion with poly-fil. For the head make a wad of poly-fil and stick it in the toe of the sock. Add the cuff of another sock as the body of the platypus and glue it all together. Cut ears out of brown felt and glue them to the head. Make inset eyes by poking a needle with thread through the head where you want them and pulling it tight to form the indents.
This method can also be done with a tube of toilet paper or tissues. The tissue or paper will be lighter but still provide some lift. This is a great option for women who need to stay discreet or for those who are in public.
Water Balloons
A water balloon fight is a great summertime activity that can be played indoors or outdoors. Water balloons can be filled with water, food coloring or other colored liquids, or they can be inflated with a water hose and then launched against friends. This is a fun way to while away the summer, and it can also be an effective form of exercise for kids.
Rather than having to repeatedly stretch the neck of a water balloon over a sink faucet or a water hose (which can lead to holes or tears), use a device like the Tie-Not. This device allows kids to fill up more water balloons at one time, so they have more ammo for pummeling their family and friends.
Another fun summer activity is to line a cabin walkway with water balloons. Kids can then walk around the yard with sticks that are long enough to pick up and “hit” the balloons. This is a fun way to develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. It’s also a good idea to have some towels on hand, in case of any mess.
Silicone Enhancement Pads
When you need a little more cleavage, these silicone breast pads can do the trick. They’re made of medical-grade silicone that feels just like the skin and look very realistic when worn inside a bra or attached to the chest wall. They’re also available in a wide range of shapes, sizes, and thicknesses to match your remaining natural breast shape and body proportions.
Also known as cookies or cutlets, they slip easily and discreetly into your bra to add fullness, lift, and cleavage. They warm to the body’s temperature and mold into your natural breast shape, so you don’t need adhesives or tapes to keep them in place. Most are also waterproof, so they can be worn in swimwear.
You can purchase silicone breast enhancement pads from a variety of online retailers. Some popular options include:
Breastplate
Adding a chest plate of fake breasts to your costume can add a whole new dimension to your appearance. You can buy a ready-made breastplate from a specialty costume shop or make one yourself with a few simple tools.
A popular method of making a DIY breast form involves using balloons. The advantage of this method over the other methods is that it allows you to create a shape that looks more realistic—one side flat like your chest and the other sagging naturally, just as your real breasts do.
To make your own DIY breasts, you’ll need a sand mold that fits your measurements and some plaster of paris or liquid latex (a rubber cemeant will also work). You can then pour the Plastisol into the mold, let it set, and heat it up to 325 degrees to harden. After that, you can remove the mold and cover it with a thin layer of sheer, flesh-toned fabric. The resulting fake breasts will look natural and feel comfortable against your skin. They will also stay on better than a stuffed bra—though they may not hold up to sports that require intense movement.
